In the autumn of 2020, we could only hope that we would be able to meet the young people again in 2021. The Sputnik that appeared in the 2019 word-cloud gained new meaning for everyone. Digital education created new possibilities, but we still prefer to meet the students live up there in the "D" tower. Although we agreed at the beginning of the year that there would be no multi-week summer camp this time, "only" a one-week Olympic week, we eagerly awaited the starting pistol truly going off, similar to the Tokyo Olympics. We prepared enthusiastically with a renewed theme. Encouraged by the balloon experiments in May, we wanted to repeat these experiments together with the students. They themselves chose the balloon's payload. The various groups created their own spheres, which were to be lifted into the air by a helium-filled balloon. The weather did not allow the spheres to be released. If it can't go up, let's go down! We tested the constructions made by the teams to see how they landed from the top of the tower. Unfortunately, the strengthening wind did not allow this either, but we made a solemn promise to the students that we would carry out these experiments on a suitable day and report on the results. The big day arrived, which we can attest to with photos and videos.
This year too, we wanted to know what our young visitors take away with them, so the word-clouds below were created as well. We look forward to welcoming the young ones again next year!
