A year flew by, and we once again got to meet young students organized by Mobilis. This year's children's university, as a themed week, was about climate change and its effects. With our own modest means, we tried to contribute so that the students could get a picture of atmospheric research using meteorological sondes and satellites.
We have the opportunity to receive and decode signals from EU meteorological satellites. We got stunning images of prevailing wind directions on different continents - captured by the satellites. At the end of the presentations, we together released a helium-filled meteorological balloon from our renovated roof, which we could follow via the internet. We hope we sparked the young people's interest in meteorological observations. We look forward to having the students back next year for further adventures!
The archive reports are based on the college’s contemporary documentation.
