The time has come to celebrate World Telecommunication Day together again! After two years, we regained access to our transmitting station and were able to work on our various projects. We wanted to show the general public the results we achieved over the past year with the help we received from the profession. Behind the short presentations lies several months of intensive joint work. We worked until the last minutes to make sure everything was operational and ready to present by the morning of May 19.
The presentations report on our flagship projects, but we also gave our next-generation students the opportunity to introduce themselves.
1) EME experiment in memory of Zoltán Bay
In 1946, Zoltán Bay measured the distance of the Moon from Earth using radio waves. In memory of the renowned scientist, our students laid a wreath at his statue in Újpest. Is the Moon still just as far away today in our expanding universe? A few of us undertook to repeat this experiment. In the presentation, Zoltán Nagy and Leon Maslov showed what difficulties had to be overcome in communicating via the Moon. Is transmission or reception the harder problem to solve? Can a parabolic antenna or a Yagi antenna bring results? Plenty of questions to answer. We can learn the answers they gave from their presentation.
2) When the engineer and the lawyer row in the same airship
Until the very last moment it was uncertain whether the airship would be able to rise with the entrusted payload and carry out its mission. It was a challenge for us that the airship could only be filled with helium for the first time the evening before the event. The next morning, the students were still feverishly working on the airship so that it would be able to complete its mission during the event.
The lines of Miklós Vámos came to mind:
"Never be afraid to do something new!
Remember, a lone amateur built the Ark, and a bunch of experts built the Titanic."
Zoltán Molnár also spoke about the students' enthusiasm.

3) SZE CubeSat module
Will there be a satellite in the sky over Győr that was built partly or entirely within the walls of our university? Dániel Keresztény and Martin Magda answer this rhetorical question in their presentation. Seeing their enthusiasm, we believe the moment is not far off when we will be able to detect the signals of their own satellite with our antennas.
4) Eumetsat station
We undertook to pay off a debt when we set the goal of receiving European meteorological satellites. With the professional support of Eumetsat and OMSZ, Tamás Darázs and András Klupács created a Eumetsat ground receiving station on the roof of the university. It's paradoxical, but sometimes weather conditions made it difficult to install a station whose purpose is to receive weather data. The decoded images speak for themselves!
5) From the ground to the clouds - Building a meteorological balloon
It is a joy for us to be able to report on the experiments of enthusiastic young people. Two young students - let their names be recorded here - Ákos Óvári and Gyula Richárd Szakál reported on their balloon experiments. The participants of the presentation could also follow with their own eyes another expedition launched from the roof of Mobilis.
