This year's World Telecommunication Day is titled "Secure and Sustainable Connectivity on Earth and in Space". The changed geopolitical environment has highlighted how vulnerable our communication networks are. Resilience has emerged as a new concept, aimed at developing the robustness of our networks.

This year, our students again wanted to share their achievements with the interested participants of World Telecommunication Day. We approached the organizers of World Telecommunication Day, who, true to tradition, gave us the opportunity to present in the student section. This year was special for us, as we could once again welcome renowned figures who have followed our activities since our very first steps: Dr. Orsolya Ferencz, János Solymosi, and András Gschwindt. It was an honor for us to welcome Natalia Donoho, WMO satellite expert, at our ground station.

1) Operational experiences of the Hunity satellite - Dr. Levente Dudás, BME

The satellite was launched into space on November 28, and its signals became receivable shortly afterward. We can learn about the process of bringing the satellite to life and the experiments carried out on board. A novelty of the design is the deployable solar panels, which are also operating successfully. Professional humor was not missing from Levente's presentation either. 2) Experiences with the SZESAT-1 twin satellite - Ágoston Koppány Szűcs, Gábor Marton, SZESAT

Within the Hunity-1 twin satellite, the students undertook building an independent satellite in PQ size. The presentation on the construction of the new satellite also reports on the design and operation of the modules created. Their presentation can be viewed here:

3) The road toward an independent student satellite - Kristóf Varga, László Juhász, Bálint Farkas, Máté Gerencsér, SZESAT

Using previous experience, we can learn how the students are designing their new satellite in PQ size. They pay special attention to redundancy and the importance of testing. Their presentation can be viewed here:

4) Data from the air - Eszter Takács, Botond Tóth-Csehi, SZESAT

Meteorological balloons provide an ideal solution for testing LoRa communication. The students share the experiences of these tests in their presentation. Their presentation can be viewed here:

5) GND MCC - How we go from amateurs to professionals - Lajos Kéri, Patrik Tóth, Júlia Aizenpreisz, SZESAT

We can learn about the systems engineering of the ground station. The georedundant solution allows uninterrupted communication, for example with the ISS. The ground station is also suitable for radio astronomy observations. The presentation also offers insight into the mysteries of celestial mechanics. Their presentation can be viewed here:

6) Artificial intelligence in satellite emergency management - Réka Kérész, SZESAT

Of course, thanks are due to all our SZESAT members and teachers who helped the presenters prepare their presentations!
